When we think about workplace safety, we often picture helmets, harnesses, or ha zard signs — but mental health is just as vital. A stressed, fatigued, or mentally unwell employee is at greater risk of making mistakes, misjudging situations, or disengaging from safety protocols.

Mental health challenges like anxiety, burnout, and depression can directly impact concentration, communication, and decision-making — key factors in maintaining a safe working environment. Prioritising psychological safety, offering mental health suppor t, and encouraging open conversations about wellbeing isn’t just good for morale — it’s essential for keeping people safe, productive, and connected on the job.
