Tom Thum

Tom Thum’s unparalleled drive for artistic ingenuity, and obscure talent of manipulating vocal cords to create soundtracks of impossible beats, create world class sound

With a career spanning 20 years as a professional musician, Tom Thum’s pedigree in the world of beat boxing is unrivalled. His live performance videos have amassed  over half a billion combined plays, with a following of 590 thousand on TikTok, and 433 thousand YouTube subscribers. Tom was propelled to internet stardom with his 2013 TEDx performance at the Sydney Opera House. His 15-minute showcase was quick to become the most viewed TEDx video of all time, receiving over 77 million views and counting. Tom’s unique ability to push the limits of the human voice has gained him recognition worldwide.

As an ever-evolving artist, Tom is constantly seeking out new creations with his voice that often border on the unimaginable. His beatboxing career began on stage at a festival, where he was later asked by a member of his breakdance crew to entertain after a CD player had stopped working. Since then, Tom’s crew was awarded first place at the first Beatbox Battle World Championship (2005), and he was personally recognised in the top 8 for solo performance.

From creating the world’s first ‘human synthesized band’ for Google, to conducting a beatbox endoscopy live at TEDx, Tom has never failed to defy limitations. This is most prevalent in ‘Thum Prints’, his beatbox meets orchestra project with world renowned composer, Gordon Hamilton, and is the world’s first 60-minute beat box concerto that provides an audio juxtaposition to audiences globally. Touring their often unconventional, but always entertaining show from Mumbai to Cologne to Kuala Lumpur, Thum Prints never fails to leave audiences amazed and wanting more. The duo’s ‘beat box concerto’ has also been recognised at the worlds most celebrated classical music festival, The BBC Proms.

Tom’s performances are highly sought out, with his vocal talents being in demand by distinguished brands such as Pepsi, Roadshow Entertainment, Audi, Virgin Australian, and Sennheiser, to name a few.

Tom can currently be seen developing several new projects, including another world first, online beat box masterclass series. As well as becoming the author to a children’s book, and creating the first human made beat box drum sample library.
