Jessica Strutt

Political reporter and trusted journalist

Jessica Strutt has worked as a political reporter in Western Australia for over ten years. Five years ago, she joined ABC News Perth, after previously working as a Senior Media Adviser in Government. Broadcasting news across all platforms, Jessica ensures her audiences are up to date on relevant information.

Prior to entering the journalism world, Jessica obtained a Bachelor of Arts majoring in politics and history at the University of Western Australia. Landing an internship at The Australian’s Perth Office in 2003, Jessica did all of her training on the job.

She went on to land her first journalism job with Rural Press, where she worked as a cadet reporter in the farming town of Merredin. After a few months, Jess’ hard work paid off, and she was offered a cadetship with The Sunday Times in Perth.

In 2005, Jessica was poached by The West Australian, and during her time there, was awarded several times for her political and resources reporting.

3 years later, she won the State Print News Award for her reports exposing violence and alcohol problems plaguing the remote Aboriginal community of Oombulgurri.

A highly sought-after speaker, Jessica inspires, motivates, and uplifts any audience she is in front of. She is also a wonderful and professional MC/Facilitator.
