George Calombaris is proud of his Greek heritage and combines it with his passion for food, producing awe-inspiring and mouth-watering food. A regular judge on Network Ten’s MasterChef, he is excited to share his extensive knowledge.
Voted as one of the Top 40 Chefs of Influence in the World by ‘Global Food and Wine’ magazine, George is passionate about all things food and has turned his love into a successful career.
He currently owns five restaurants in Melbourne including Gazi, The Press Club, Hellenic Republic, Mastic and Jimmy Grants. In 2008, The Press Club received The Ages Good Food Guide’s Best New Restaurant and George was named as Chef of the Year. In the same year, he was also placed in The Age Melbourne Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People.
George has also authored several cookbooks titled ‘Greek Cookery from the Hellenic Heart’ and a collaboration with fellow MasterChef judge Gary Mehigan ‘Your Place or Mine’.
