Kris Smith is a well-known television presenter, MC and media personality, recognised for his warmth, professionalism and natural ability to connect with audiences. Best known as the popular host the global reality show Insight, Kris has also appeared across a wide range of Australian television programs including The Project, The Circle, Can of Worms, and Rugby League Superstar.
Originally from Manchester, Kris began his professional career as a Rugby League player, signing with Leeds at just 15 years old and later representing Great Britain against France and other leading UK clubs. After a career-ending injury, Kris transitioned into community work with underprivileged youth before being signed by a leading UK modelling agency – a pivotal moment that launched his successful media career.
Arriving in Australia in 2008, Kris quickly established himself as a familiar face on Australian screens. In 2010, he became co-host of Foxtel’s hit series Football Superstar, later returning to the franchise in 2015 as a judge. His television credits expanded to include appearances on Celebrity Come Dine With Me, guest hosting roles on Australia’s Next Top Model, and regular panel contributions on Network Ten’s Can of Worms.
In 2013, Kris was announced as one of the original presenters of Channel 7's national afternoon program, The Daily Edition, co-hosting alongside Tom Williams, Monique Wright and Sally Obermeder. He continued in this role until 2015, when he scaled back to focus on international presenting opportunities, including travelling the world as a host of Insight.
Kris has also taken part in a number of high-profile reality and entertainment programs, including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2017, where he openly shared his experience as a survivor of domestic violence while supporting White Ribbon Australia. In recent years, he has guest hosted The Living Room, appeared in The Real Full Monty, and co-starred in the travel comedy series Mates on a Mission.
A popular and long-standing ambassador for Myer, Kris regularly appears at events across Australia and has also served as a national Ambassador for Jaguar and several major charities, including Challenge (supporting children with cancer), Genes for Jeans (promoting medical research into childhood diseases), Blue September (raising awareness of men’s cancer), and White Ribbon Australia. A passionate advocate for health and wellbeing, he frequently shares his fitness philosophies and programs through outlets such as Men’s Health.
