Brooke Blurton

One of Australia’s most prominent advocates for mental health within Aboriginal communities

A strong resilient Noongar-Yamatji woman, Brooke’s own childhood was marred by suicide and substance abuse in her family. Determined to make a difference for her community, Brooke helps vulnerable youths exposed to abuse, including those who have been in and out of foster homes, expelled from school or have become homeless.

By implementing education strategies and community projects, she has taught a new generation of young people the skills necessary to succeed in life.

Brooke is also a facilitator of ‘Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid’ - a course designed to help people obtain a nationally accredited certificate in recognising the symptoms of mental illness and for people to better understand how to offer support as a ‘First Aider’.

She continues to spread awareness through government-supported initiatives like the Alternative Learning Setting and Full-Service School model; programs designed to support young people through sport, art and other pursuits.

With her appearance on the 2021 season of The Bachelorette Australia, Brooke shares her mission with a large social media following in hopes to promote resilience and compassion in everyday life.
