Championing Woman’s Safety and Survivor Empowerment Globally
Sarah Monahan is a pioneering advocate for women's safety, globally recognised as a pivotal figure long before the movements of MeToo, TimesUp, or LetHerSpeak gained momentum. Her courageous stand against sexual abuse, even as a child actress facing one of Australia's most prominent 'TV dads' as her abuser, marked a turning point and jailed a paedophile in the process. Despite an extraordinary power imbalance and intense scrutiny and accusations of seeking attention, Sarah's unwavering voice shattered the barriers of victim-blaming. She became known as Australia's Ground Zero MeToo whistleblower.
Beyond her advocacy, Sarah has navigated the complexities of media scrutiny, legal battles, and personal trauma with remarkable grace and resilience. Her journey has encompassed roles as a Public Affairs Officer in the military, a facilitator for COPE under the Boy Scouts of America, and a board member of A Minor Consideration, where she continues to champion the rights of young performers.
Sarah Monahan's experiences provide profound insights into surviving adversity, building resilience, and fostering supportive communities. She remains dedicated to empowering survivors and driving meaningful change on a global scale.
