Tackling social issues as an advocate for diverse storytelling
As one of the leading advocates for social change, Anyier Yuol has a deep understanding of the uneven social landscape that haunts society.
Born in a refugee camp in Kenya, Anyier lost her parents as a child before moving to Australia at just 10 years old. Because of this, Anyier found comfort and protection from the many women around her, giving her the strength and survival skills needed to endure the challenges she would later face in life.
Anyier is a strong advocate for empowering women to tell their own stories. She shares her own story of resilience, encouraging others to feel inspired and determined, even in the face of adversity.
Described as warm, charismatic and fiercely engaging, Anyier invites audiences to walk in her shoes as she uncovers the emotional and intellectual threads from her journey in a refugee camp to her PhD, modelling agency and advocacy work.
In 2025, she obtained her PhD from Western Sydney University, where her research explored the cultural, social, and gendered implications of bride price in the South Sudanese diaspora. Her advocacy and leadership have been recognised with multiple honours, including the 2023 Les Murray Award for Refugee Recognition and the Australia for UNHCR Award.
Anyier is committed to delivering her thought-provoking and inspiring presentations to all audiences of diverse backgrounds.
