Alex Blackwell

Australian cricketer advocating for greater diversity and stronger representation in sports

Alex Blackwell is a professional cricketer that has been paving the way for greater representation in Australia’s national sport.

Alex spent much of her childhood years in NSW with her twin sister, Kate, on the cricket pitch. It wouldn’t be long before Alex and her sister made their professional debut in Australia, where they would go on to change the industry forever.

Having played more matches than any other female cricketer in Australian history, Alex’s career highlights have included captaining the Australian Women’s Team to a World Twenty20 win in 2010, as well as winning the Ashes against England in 2011.

Throughout her career, Alex has not been afraid to challenge the status quo by calling out hypocrisy and discrimination in the game. Coming out as gay in 2012, Alex has been a strong advocate, and inspiration, for women and LGBTQI communities worldwide. It is no wonder that she was invited to be a proud leader for the Mardi Gras parade in 2015 alongside fellow athletes Daniel Kowalski, Jai Wallace and Matthew Mitchem.

With decades of professional experience in the game, Alex draws upon her life lessons to instil wisdoms around leadership, taking calculated risks, and adapting to difficult situations in your professional and personal lives.
