Dr. Keith Suter AM is one of Australia’s most respected global futurists and a leading voice on international affairs, globalisation, conflict resolution, and strategic foresight. With a career spanning over four decades, Keith has become renowned for his ability to explain complex global issues in a clear, engaging, and thought-provoking way, both on stage and across the media.
Keith is the Managing Director of the Global Directions think tank and has held senior leadership roles in international law and humanitarian organisations. His vast expertise includes serving as Chair of the International Humanitarian Law Committee of the Australian Red Cross (NSW), Chair of the International Commission of Jurists (NSW), and Director of Studies for the International Law Association (Australian Branch). He is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and continues to advise corporate and not-for-profit leaders on strategic and global issues.
An influential media commentator, Keith is also Channel Seven’s foreign affairs editor on Sunrise, a regular contributor to Sky News Australia, and appears daily on radio programs across the country. He’s widely known for making world events relatable and engaging to Australian audiences.
A lifelong scholar, Keith holds three doctorates in the international law of guerrilla warfare, the social and economic impact of the arms race, and scenario planning. In 1993, Keith was invited to join the prestigious ‘Club of Rome’, a global think tank of 100 influential independent thinkers from the worlds of science, business, and politics, dedicated to solving humanity’s most pressing challenges. His numerous contributions to international relations and social policy were recognised in 2019 when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Additionally, in 1999, Keith was also made a Life Member of the United Nations Association of Australia.
Keith is also a prolific author, with bestsellers such as ‘All About Terrorism: Everything You Were Afraid to Ask’, ‘Global Order and Global Disorder’, and ‘50 Things You Want to Know About World Issues… But Were Too Afraid to Ask’. His work continues to inspire audiences to think critically and creatively about the future of our world.
