Born a black sheep to a family of engineers, Karen Ferry's childhood quickly proved that she was rubbish at chemistry, pretty good at physics but excellent at creative problem solving. Coupling that skill with past experiences as a street artist, jewellery designer and youth marketer, Karen now works with agencies and organisations to create engaging creative solutions that tap into human behaviour, in a non-traditional way.

Karen is also interested in how we as people can live better lives - whether through diversity, circular economies, or understanding of place. It could be something as ginormous as sustainable product creation, to reframing the minutae of email spam. She is passionate about smart and strategic solutions, that continually push back against the forgettable dangers of ‘nice’ work.

In 2018, Karen was selected as one of 15 worldwide See It Be It delegates for the Cannes International Festival of Creativity, and is the National Head of AWARD School - Australia’s premier course in ideas and creativity. 

Karen is an advertising and cultural commentator who offers a diverse point of view about marketing and social issues, through articles and media appearances. She frequently appears on ABC’s Gruen and The Project, has delivered keynote speeches and moderated panels, and spoken on podcasts including Yumi Styles’ Ladies We Need to Talk, The Signal, Claire Hooper’s The Pineapple Project and the culturally-diverse Brown Riot.

She is available as an MC, guest keynote and event speaker for business events on creativity, diversity and innovation.
