Full Presenter Profile & Bio
Australian female DJ – Nicky G (Nicky Gibson) started her career as a TV presenter in Brisbane as a 14 year on Channel 7 's "Wombat "programme hosting with Agro the puppet. Small acting jobs on some of Australia’s most popular shows followed, before embarking on a singing career.
She then followed her passion for music as a singer/ songwriter, and recorded several original songs and released three singles and video clips. Nicky knew her future was in music and wanted to be involved in entertaining people as a career. After doing the hard yards as a singer/dancer/performer, she was then introduced to the world of DJing and producing. Soon it was apparent that she loved being behind the decks and Sydney soon had one of its first female commercial DJs hit the scene.
DJ Nicky G has been the pioneer of Australian female DJs in Australia at a time when it was only a boys club. She raised many eyebrows and made her mark in the club scene in the 90s when females in the industry were still rare.
Her selection of music and flawless mixing has electrified people for many years, with her ability to read any crowd which is a unique talent, as nothing is pre planned with the music being mixed according to the audience on the night, which is always different and never predictable.
A Blonde female DJ playing all genres of music including RnB was a first for the industry. It was a tough challenge for anyone let alone a young girl from Brisbane, but Nicky instantly proved that she could hold her own in any club, often performing 8 hour sets with the crowds leaving on a high at the end of each night.
Nicky was often told a female could not mix as well as the boys in the industry ( especially rnb/hiphop) but soon it was evident that she could not only mix well, she was far better than the DJ's she worked with, and earned the respect of many peers and industry promoters.
It didn’t take long for Nicky G to establish herself in Sydney and Australia's nightclub scene, and for her DJ career to really take off, making all those years of hard work worthwhile.
Nicky has worked in Australia's Nightclub scene for many years now, carving out her market and fullfilling her career as a fulltime DJ. Spinning in various super clubs of the 90s and early 2000 , she regularly played to over a 1000 people each night, week in and week out. Her smooth mix of RnB/hiphop blended with dance, house and commercial tunes controlled the night from start to finish. These days Nicky has been scouted to play many vip private parties, corporate events, fashion shows and product launches, dj'ing exclusively for Napoleon Perdis cosmetics and Rayban.
With her confidence and experience as an all round entertainer, DJ Nicky G can not only jump on the decks, she can also host events and conduct interviews with celebrities who visit the nightclubs. Nicky has featured in many magazines and newspapers over the years showcasing what she can do in the music and DJ industries.
Playing in most of Sydney City’s hotspots Kings Cross, the CBD, to western, southern and and regional areas, along with various other states within Australia, she has proven to be very popular across the board and is always invited back to dj.
Nicky has worked with many live music artists, both nationally and internationally and Dj'd alongside some of Australia’s leading names.
Her dedication to her career has seen Nicky train many young and upcoming DJs, giving them the start she found so elusive.
With her striking looks, bubbly personality and DJ skills, Nicky G is the perfect combination for a successful nightclub anywhere in Australia and worldwide.
Having been booked solid by many venues and working constantly for many years only cements Nicky’s dedication, professionalism and reputation.
Her versatile nature and experience in the industry sees her play many styles of music from Dance, House, electro, Top 40 as well as Rnb/hiphop which suits individual venues and their nights.
