Paul Vasileff

Paul Vasileff the visionary Creative Director and Founder of Paolo Sebastian, an internationally acclaimed couture label renowned for its ethereal gowns and exquisite craftsmanship. A born creator, Vasileff learnt to sew at the young age of three, from his grandmother and completed his first evening dress at the age of eleven. He was fascinated by the inner workings and underpinnings of garments.

With dreams of one day becoming a couture designer, Vasileff developed his skills by undertaking private lessons in pattern making and sewing. By seventeen, he had launched his first fashion collection to critical acclaim, an achievement he still considers one of his most meaningful to this day, with raving reviews from both the public and press

Fuelled by a passion for storytelling through fashion, Vasileff immediately began taking orders for private clients. He continued this passion taking on an apprenticeship with a traditional Italian tailor. Receiving a scholarship from the prestigious institute Europeo di Design in Milan, he went on to graduate with honours. Despite global opportunities, Vasileff was determined to build a world-class couture house from his hometown and so returned home to Adelaide.

In 2017, Vasileff was awarded ‘Young Australian of the Year’ for his work in founding Paolo Sebastian and its contribution to the Australian fashion industry. He was later awarded ‘Designer of The Year’ in the Prix de Marie Claire Awards. Vasileff continues to follow his dream, further developing his brand and business with an international clientele, annual showings in Paris, and adhering to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Today, Paolo Sebastian gowns grace red carpets from Hollywood to Kuwait and have appeared on international television, including a collaboration with Disney. Paolo Sebastian has dressed the likes of Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Cynthia Erivo, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Heidi Klum, Sydney Sweeney, Adut Akech, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Rachel Zegler. With annual collections showcasing in Paris, Vasileff remains deeply committed to keeping his brand proudly Australian with all pieces designed and handmade in South Australia.
