Ando trains experienced fighter pilots to fly, fight and win. He is the elite of the elite currently serving in the Royal Australian Air Force as a squadron leader and fighter combat instructor.
Having joined the air force 20 years ago, Ando has flown over 2000 missions in fighter jets. He has lived, travelled, and worked across Australia and the globe, including two combat deployments.
In Afghanistan, Ando flew an unmanned aerial vehicle in support of army troops in the fight against the Taliban, and later deployed to Iraq to fly the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet in the fight against ISIS.
Ando spent three years with the United States Air Force in Anchorage on exchange as a fighter combat instructor training American fighter pilots on the F22 fighter.
Ando is accustomed to leading and educating highly skilled teams in complex environments. Ando has been held responsible for leading the planning of several large multinational Defence Force exercises.
