New Zealand rugby legend inspiring better teamwork and communication skills
Eric Rush is one of New Zealand’s legendary rugby footballers. A rugby sevens icon, Eric’s passion for rugby has spanned decades, inspiring a whole generation of fans worldwide. With a diverse career both on and off the rugby field, Eric is passionate about exploring practical strategies for teamwork and communication skills within any organisation.
Eric began his rugby career as a flanker for Auckland before moving to North Harbour. Between 1992 and 1996, Rush played 29 games for the All Blacks. One of the world’s leading rugby sevens players, Eric represented New Zealand for 17 years and was instrumental in helping New Zealand with their winning streak in rugby.
As captain, Eric’s team victories include a Gold Medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, six consecutive wins for the World Sevens Series title, a win at the Sevens World Cup Championship in 2001, as well as a Gold Medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
A multi-talented athlete, Eric has also previously represented New Zealand in touch rugby and in the U-17 volleyball team, as well as winning a light-heavyweight boxing title in school.
Outside of rugby, Eric also graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree, and was admitted to the bar as a Barrister where he worked in the corporate sector for eight years.
In the 2010’s, Eric ventured into the grocery industry when he became the Browns Bay franchise owner for New World Supermarket, followed by the Kaikohe branch and the Whangarei branch a few years after.
With decades of life lessons, Eric has also written and published three books detailing his extensive rugby experiences and the strategies he learnt to succeed in everyday life.
Eric also draws on these anecdotes to engage with audiences around the world. He has practical tips to help any audience grasp the importance of improving teamwork, leadership and motivation in their personal and professional lives.
