Sally Pearson

The first Australian ever to be named IAAF Best Female Athlete in the World

Determined and courageous, Sally Pearson is one of Australia’s most well-known track and field athletes and her skills have seen her participate in several worldwide competitions.

At the age of 17, Sally acknowledged the dedication and commitment required to become Australia’s next champion in track and field. This did not deter her and she trained hard in an effort to achieve her goal.

Three years later, Pearson participated at the World Championships and her impressive skills saw her anchor the nation’s 4 x 100m Relay Team. She was also the Australian champion of the 100m sprint and the 100m hurdles. She was titled as The World Champion and the 2011 IAAF World’s Best Female Athlete of the Year.

Having two strong female role models, being Cathy Freeman and Melinda Gainsford Taylor, Sally was destined for success within athletics.

She has completed a media training course and has appeared across multiple mediamedia including television, print and radio. Her post-race interview after falling in the finals at the Commonwealth Games motivated and marvelled many Australia’s, as she showed unwavering determination and strength.

In 2008, at the Beijing Olympics, Sally won a silver medal before continuing on to win gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

During a Diamond League race in Rome in June 2015, Sally broke her wrist in two places which saw her eliminated from the 2015 World Titles. The rest and recuperation required to heal the break enabled Sally to come back stronger and saw her begin preparation for Rio. Unfortunately,, a hamstring injury ruled her out of the Rio games.

In 2014, Sally received an Order of Australia.

Sally Pearson is an Australian role model and her presentations are suitable for any audience. Her presentations are motivational and inspire every audience member to overcome challenges they may face.
