Full Presenter Profile & Bio
Jason McCartney is an inspirational young man who faced adversity and overcame it to become an incredible football player.
In 2002, Jason was caught up in the Bali bombings and suffered horrible burn injuries. A year later he was back on the football field. His strength and courage enabled him to overcome his injuries and continue with his life the way he wanted. He also credits the support from his family, friends and team mates to his speedy recovery.
Jason remains actively involved in AFL former coach of the AIS/AFL Academy and former list manager at the Western Bulldogs. McCartney is currently the list manager at the Greater Western Sydney Giants.
He also works closely with several charities including Life Support @ The Alfred Foundation and K.I.D.S Foundation.
Jason was very well received by the audience, you could've heard a pin drop when he was speaking. It was refreshing to hear a first hand account of the Bali Bombing from someone who actually lived through it.

Jason’s presentation was truly inspirational. To sit in a room where there was complete silence for the full 45 minute presentation was amazing. The extended standing ovation and the end of the presentation was not only a mark of respect to this very humble man, but also allowed the delegates to collect their thoughts and emotions after the delivery of such a powerful message. Perspective is a powerful word – of which Jason taught us the true meaning. He certainly showed us that “it is not what you are dealt with in life, but rather, how you deal with it”. A truly unforgettable presentation and experience.
Excellent. Jason's presentation was very moving. It was amazing to see how far he had come in terms of his recovery in just 12 months, he really is an inspiration. I have had nothing but positive feedback about his presentation from the guests, and I would highly recommend him to others.
