Full Presenter Profile & Bio
Alisa Camplin is an incredible motivational speaker who uses her life experiences to inspire others. Professional and powerful, she is a fantastic speaker at any event.
First training as a gymnast and sailor, she reached early success, winning two Australian National Sailing titles. Alisa was then inspired by the success of skier Kirsty Marshall and turned to skiing at the age of 19.
Training for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Alisa was involved in a skiing accident. Initially told the injuries merely consisted of bruising, she was thrown when doctors informed her she had fractured both ankles and it would be best if she didn’t compete.
Despite medical concerns, Alisa participated in the Winter Olympics, landing an incredible triple twisting double somersault. Showing impeccable determination and strength, her performance was amazing, and she took home gold for her efforts. It was the second skiing gold medal ever won by Australia and the first won by an Australian woman.
In 2005, during the lead up to the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, Alisa received a serious knee injury. It required a second knee reconstruction operation a few months before the Olympics were set to take place. Eleven weeks after the operation, Alisa managed to return to training and took home bronze in her event.
In 2003, she received an Order of Australia Medal and in 2008 was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
After the tragic death of her and husband Oliver’s first child, they set up the charity Finnan’s Gift which helps the Royal Children’s Hospital raise money to buy equipment to treat babies with heart defects.
Her remarkable journey and determination is seen in every presentation she shares. Alisa is the ideal motivational speaker for your event, inspiring those attending to never give up and keep trying. She speaks from the heart and connects with her audience.
