Award-winning Australian journalist sharing stories with global impact
As a Walkley Award-winning journalist, Jan Fran is a popular presenter and commentator who has been sharing impactful stories from around the world.
She is the creator behind the online opinion segment ‘The Frant’, where she writes and presents to more than 20 million readers across social media. For her work on The Frant, she was awarded a Walkley Award in 2019 for Best Commentary, Analysis, Opinion and Critique. Currently, she is adapting the program for The Guardian.
Jan is also a prolific documentarian, having shot and produced engaging productions around the world. Passionate about sharing stories with global impact, Jan has lived in several countries and speaks three languages.
Outside of her own creative projects, Jan writes on a fortnightly column in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. She also makes frequent appearances across Australian TV programs, where she contributes insightful commentary on The Project, Q+A, The Today Show and The Drum. She also provides her insight as a host on the ABC podcasts 'The Briefing' and 'The Pineapple Project'.
In her spare time, Jan gives back to the community as an ambassador for Plan International Australia, where she continues to inspire and advocate for young women around the world. Her strong reporting also earned her a 2018 Walkley nomination for Women’s Leadership in Media.
