Chris Franklin

One of Australia’s comedy legends

With his "Hoganesque" style of comedy, Chris Franklin appeals to every audience as an Aussie bloke rocking flannelette shirts and double plugger thongs. In the process, he touches on the delicate issues of everyday Australian people, including beer, sport and relationships.

Starting in October ’97, Chris would go on to win the prestigious triple j Raw Comedy Award for Australia’s Best New Talent in just six months. Quickly rising to feature status, Chris supports his career with an impressive collection of accomplishments, including as a Grand Finalist in the Canberra National Green Faces, three Aria nominations and double platinum sales for his single hit ‘Bloke’.

Performing on-stage with comedy icons like Jimeoin, Carl Barron, Anh Do, Elliot Goblet and Marty Fields (among many others), Chris continues to entertain and impress audiences throughout Australia. Chris has even performed alongside international music stars like Santana, Elvis Costello, Deep Purple and Tony Joe White.

More recently, Chris has done five ‘TOURS OF DUTY’, taking his act to The Solomon Island, East Timor, Iraq and twice to Afghanistan, to entertain the Aussie troops and help keep their spirits high. He has also performed in America, Scotland, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Guinea, The United Arab Emirates and Malaysia.

Off-stage, Chris’ first single ‘Bloke’ was a hilarious parody of Meredith Brooks’ song ‘Bitch’. The single landed Chris at Number 15 within the first week, and subsequently achieved platinum sales exceeding 120,000. Chris has released a further single ‘Mullet Head’, which was nominated for “Best Comedy Release”.

Chris also has an extensive career in TV, with appearances on programs like Channel 7’s ‘Live & Kicking’, SBS’ ‘Houso’s’, Nine Network’s ‘The Footy Show’ and ‘A Current Affair’ and ABC’s ‘Raw Comedy Special’. His first live DVD ‘Let Bogans Be Bogans’ was filmed at The Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne to a sell out crowd.

A popular comedian, Chris has headlined for every major comedy club in Australia and overseas, and brings the same energy to a corporate function as he would to your local pub.
