Learn how to strive for excellence and achieve goals
Entrepreneur businesswoman, Lydia Lassila makes juggling priorities look easy.
In 2006 she successfully launched her business, BodyIce, whilst recovering from a knee injury she suffered at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Her recovery was impeded by the lack of cold therapy on the markets.
Her vision to create a cold therapy that worked without leaking or slipping, that achieved the optimum level of coldness to enhance healing, was born. Her desire to win, helped her design and create a range of ice packs utilising neoprene compression straps to fit specific areas of the body, enabling her to compete again and to win two Olympic medals.
Owning and operating her own business, Lydia became a mother of two boys. Her experience as a woman and mother helped her expand the range to include a range of items for women and children.
Lydia has also published two books, ‘Jump’ and ‘The Will to Fly’. In 2016 Katie Bender and Leo Baker released a documentary of The Will to Fly to rave reviews.
Testament to her ability as an elite athlete, Lydia has represented Australia in four Olympic Games, winning Gold and Bronze, both post injury. She currently holds three world records, most recently, her history-making accomplishment of successfully becoming the first woman ever to perform a quad twisting triple somersault.
Lydia has won the Don Award, Athlete of the Year, Snowboard Athlete of the year and in 2012, was awarded an Order of Australia medal.
