Isa Guha

The English cricketer and presenter inspiring fans around the world

Since her international cricket debut in 2002, Isa Guha kickstarted an incredible decade-long career playing for one of the most successful teams in English sporting history.

At just 17 years old, Isa was the first woman of South Asian origin to represent England in any sport. Named the ICC Ranked Number One Women’s Bowler in 2008, she would go on to help the English team win two World Cups, an Ashes, and an ODI series whitewash over Australia in 2009.

When she retired in 2012, Isa had become the second highest wicket taker in the all-time England Women’s ODI List. With 113 caps awarded, she ended her career as sixth in the world.

After a spectacular cricket career, Isa pivoted towards broadcasting after a breakout debut during ITV’s Indian Premier League coverage in 2011. She quickly became a core member of several sporting broadcast teams around the world, including with the BBC and Sky Sports UK. She was also closely affiliated with some of the world’s most prominent broadcasters, such as Star Sports, Sony Max India, and ESPN.

Isa continued to make history throughout her career as the first woman to commentate on an Indian Test Series for Star Sports, the global T20 men’s fixtures during the Caribbean Premier League, as well as the highly esteemed Sky Sports Test cricket coverage.

She holds a keen interest in a range of sports outside of cricket, and is particularly keen on expanding her broadcasting experience to new sporting events. In 2016, Isa was given the incredible opportunity to present the 2016 Rio Olympics on ESPN Caribbean.

Outside of TV, she provides insightful commentary on radio, joining Australia’s Triple M in 2016 as a ball-by-ball commentator, as well as a summariser for the 2018 Ashes and the Australia v Pakistan Test series. By 2019, Isa had become a core member of BBC Radio’s commentary team, just in time for the Men’s World Cup and the Ashes in 2019.

Isa is a frequent writer, having contributed to various publications such as the Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Guardian, BBC and All Out Cricket. She was also featured in a range of magazine profiles, including with Vogue, GQ India, SPORT and Asiana UK.

With her special expertise across the sporting industry, Isa is part of the South Asian Strategy Panel for the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Professional Cricketers Association, the Wisden Cricket Editorial Board, as well as a Trustee for the Berkshire Cricket Foundation.

Isa is also heavily involved with several charity organisations, including the British Asian Trust, Justice and Care, Sporting Equals, Cricket United charities, Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and Jaguar Acadeny for Sport.

With a 2.1 (Bsc) Honours in Biochemistry from University College London and an MPhil in Neuroscience, Isa explores the intersection between science and sport. She is particularly determined to research advancements on neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.
