Shaolin Temple Disciple
Grandmaster Brett Russell is an internationally recognised martial arts strategist, leadership speaker, and 32nd-generation Shaolin Temple disciple who transforms more than 30 years of elite martial arts experience into practical high-performance frameworks for business, leadership, and resilience.
Beginning martial arts training at a young age, Brett’s journey became far more than physical discipline. Through years of rigorous training in both Australia and China, he developed the resilience, focus, and self-awareness that now underpin his leadership philosophy. Brett often describes martial arts as “looking into a mirror” , a process that taught him to confront adversity, understand himself honestly, and build true confidence through discipline and adaptability.
As a disciple of Great Master Shi De Fon and lineage holder of Grandmaster Shi Su Xi, former President of the Shaolin Temple, Brett was awarded the disciple name Shi Xing Wu, meaning “Martial Warrior.” He is also recognised as one of the few masters outside China to hold the prestigious 4th Duan Wei ranking in Traditional Shaolin Temple Martial Arts through the Chinese Wushu Association.
Over his career, Brett has worked with global brands, international military organisations, specialist tactical teams, and major film productions including The Matrix Trilogy, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, and Moulin Rouge!.
Today, Brett delivers keynote presentations that blend ancient Shaolin philosophy with modern performance psychology, helping leaders and teams maintain clarity under pressure, strengthen resilience, improve strategic thinking, and lead with calm and confidence in rapidly changing environments.
Known for his engaging storytelling and practical insights, Brett’s presentations are designed for leadership summits, executive retreats, corporate conferences, and organisations seeking sustainable high performance through resilience, adaptability, and authentic leadership.
