Melina Sarris

Melina Sarris is an award-winning reporter and presenter with 7NEWS Melbourne.
She has more than 15 years experience in television journalism.
Melina graduated from La Trobe university in 2010 with a bachelor of journalism.
She began her career in 2009 in the Nine newsroom as the chief of staff assistant. She worked as a reporter for Prime7 in Bendigo and Albury and was also a news reader and reporter at 3AW, before joining the 7NEWS team in 2012.
Melina received a Melbourne Press Club Quill Award for breaking a story which changed the laws
surrounding the prison day release system in Victoria.
She’s held the roles of weekend weather presenter and regularly fills in at the news desk for the afternoon news and the weekend national news bulletins.
She’s covered major sporting events like the AFL grand final, the Melbourne Cup Carnival and the Australian Open. Reporting on everything from bushfires to floods and the lighter side of news like the Royal Melbourne Show and the Brownlow Medal Red Carpet.
