Catherine Murphy kickstarted her career in her native Ireland, honing her skills in the sports department at RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster. Her passion for storytelling and sport quickly emerged, setting the stage for an international career.
In 2006, Catherine relocated to Australia. She joined Fox Sports, where she refined her craft amid the fast-paced world of footy and elite competition .
She joined the ABC in 2018 and since then, has become the trusted voice of sports on ABC's News Channel and News Radio, and a beloved regular on ABC Radio Melbourne's Breakfast and Drive programs.
Catherine's compelling presence on screen led to a cohosting opportunity alongside Tony Armstrong on Monday's Experts, ABC's primetime sports-entertainment panel show.
In December 2024, ABC announced Catherine would step into the full-time sport presenter role on ABC News Breakfast starting from January 2025.
