Inspiring change in the workplace as a leader in gender equality 

Best known as Australia’s longest serving Sex Discrimination Commissioner from 2007 to 2015, Elizabeth Broderick AO has dedicated her entire career to promoting gender equality and breaking down the structural and social barriers faced by all Australians.

A world leader in societal change, Elizabeth founded the ‘Male Champions of Change’ strategy to inspire male leaders to take action on gender equality. She has also led 13 major cultural reviews into leading national institutions around Australia, including the Australian Defence Force.

Soon after her role as Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Elizabeth was appointed as a Special Rapporteur and Independent Expert by the United Nations in 2017. Currently, she is the Chair-Rapporteur for the UN Working Group on Discrimination Against Women and Girls.

In recognition of her work, Elizabeth was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2016, as well as the 2016 NSW Australian of the Year. She is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Sydney, an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, and holds Honorary Doctorates from various Australian universities including the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and University of Technology.

With years of experience at the forefront of change, Elizabeth is passionate about utilising practical strategies to inspire a more inclusive and equal future for all Australians.
